This project involved the renovation and remodel of a structurally unsound home in Cole Valley. Previous structural conversions were unsafe, and the house had partially collapsed as a result.
First, MNC completed the foundational reinforcement and redesign of the draining and waterproofing to level the building and ensure structural safety. Next, we fully remodeled the ground level and first floor and partially remodeled the top floor.
MNC excavated an additional five feet at ground level in order to add another living space with a master bedroom, bathroom, wet bar, hallway laundry, and a small office. This space connects to the first floor unit via a new staircase.
On the first floor, the front remodel includes a new master bedroom with a walk-in closet and bathroom, a guest bathroom, a bedroom with a small walk-in closet, and an office. The remodel of the back involves a newly opened kitchen, living, and dining area.
Finally, the removal and relocation of the laundry/utility room to install a larger deck increased the available living space on the top floor.
MNC also took on the interior design of the newly remodeled home, following the architect’s initial plan/design. The design is transitional in style and involves blending modern and traditional to achieve clean, peaceful spaces filled with light and functionality whilst maintaining the warmth and character fitting of a historical home.
